Oct 2, 2011 - thanks for the comment. Although easier to explain with 000s, you are correct.

Oct 10, 2011 - this is great! Most people probably don't know beyond petabyte so this would be very helpful.

Oct 24, 2011 - If there's the megabyte why isn't there the superbyte? Or the hyperbyte???

geobeats mowi:

Oct 24, 2011 - good question :) Perhaps they will use these names in future.

untseac mowi:

Oct 29, 2011 - Actually, it is still used as either a multiple of 1000 or 1024. For example, in Windows 7 a GB is 2^30 bytes (multiple of 1024), while in Mac OS X a GB is 10^9 bytes (multiple of 1000). To avoid confusion prefixes like kiB, MiB, GiB were created, representing strictly multiples of 1024 (which is the IEC binary convention). The KB, MB, GB would then strictly be multiples of 1000 (thus according to the SI decimal convention). However, this distinction wasn't widely adopted.

untseac mowi:

Oct 29, 2011 - I don't really think they will ever be used but it would definitely be cooler =p (yet more confusing).

Nov 18, 2011 - OK i really think that gigabyte is the most epic name ever, but when something like Hyperbite would exist that would be even more EPIC!!!

Dec 15, 2011 - I was looking up terabyte computers and accidentally clicked videos, i decided to click on this video. This is very helpful (not for me, but probably for someone else), good job on the video :). The KBs in my videos get really annoying sometimes, they get up to 2,000,000KB...I have to upload it and then delete it and permenantly remove it from my rubbish bin, and yet there are still bytes hangig around. Well, thanks for making this video :).
