Nov 24, 2011 - How so? It look cool

metraF40PH163 mowi:

Nov 24, 2011 - How is that bad? It's a special paint job. Who cares if it never wore it now it does

metraF40PH163 mowi:

Nov 24, 2011 - Cool video! That trackmobile is really cool. The paint on that F40PH looks great

otef434 mowi:

Nov 27, 2011 - "it look cool"? What exactly does that mean? That unit is a paperweight for all practical purposes, and probably better off in the scrap bin (at least it would be worth far more). Thank goodness for my investments, people like you are not in charge of railroads.

metraF40PH163 mowi:

Nov 27, 2011 - What do you think it means?! It looks neat or nice. It's a nice paint job I don't really see what is the big deal about it; so they painted a locomotive up in a colorfull paint job why is it such a problem? People like me? You don't even know me what is that supposed to mean? This unit is preserved why would it be better of in the scrap bin. Do you not understand the importance of preserving railroad history?

otef434 mowi:

Nov 28, 2011 - I understand Preservation. If there was something special about it, fine. However with so many out there still running both in passenger and freight, it's hardly unique. And if Preservation were the case here, one would not paint it into something it never was. It is the consensus that this particular unit will never run on it's own again. Thus, it is indeed a paperweight.

metraF40PH163 mowi:

Nov 28, 2011 - There really are not as many F40PH's as you think left. They are not used for freight they are passenger engines. Who cares if that paint scheam was never worn at least it looks better than rusting.

Seaboard1321 mowi:

Nov 28, 2011 - Excuse me? Why would you scrap this beautiful machine. It will be rightfully be preserved and back on the rails where it belongs. Never shall the F40PH be scrapped!!!

otef434 mowi:

Dec 6, 2011 - Because it is useless, a paperweight. As I said (and I don't stutter), there are so many still out there in operating condition that are far more worthy. And Mr. MetraF40PH163, Iowa Northern has two F40's that are in active freight service. They would pass me all the time at Cedar Rapids yard, and occasionally in Manly. At least I don't live in a make-believe world like you.

Seaboard1321 mowi:

Dec 6, 2011 - My ass is a paperweight!! Why not save one more!!

metraF40PH163 mowi:

Dec 6, 2011 - I ment they were built for pasenger service but, very few are used for freight service. Honestly I don't know why you are being so rude. It's not like they used your money to repaint it so, don't worry so much about it. Who cares how many there are like seaboard1321 said why not save one more? There is no need for name calling or rude remarks like "At least I don't live in make-belive world " It's just really imature. Listen, in my opinion I like the paint, like I said it's an Opinion

Hightrain12 mowi:

Dec 7, 2011 - Excuse me, but if you want to know what makes it special, is because it's ex-Amtrak and Amtrak has no more of these operating!

otef434 mowi:

Dec 10, 2011 - Actually, Iowa Northern has 3 F40's, all in running condition. And horrors of horrors, they are not painted like Amtrak. The world is coming to an end. So, that unit is not so special is it?

otef434 mowi:

Dec 10, 2011 - I am not rude, just honest.

otef434 mowi:

Dec 10, 2011 - Why? For it to rust to the rails like the one in Portland?

P40BH mowi:

Dec 14, 2011 - Look no need for this nonsence this locomotive is very special, Amtrak no long has these engines. Thats why this engines is special. And if you didnt like this F40PH than why the He*l did you veiw this video in the first place. Making the F40PH in my a opinion not a damn paperweight.

otef434 mowi:

Dec 15, 2011 - If it is not functional, it is a paperweight. Amtrak does not have any SPD40F's, and no one has made them "Special". Most continue to perform as intended, in revenue service earning their keep. And what about the Pooches? How come they are not "Special"? I watched this video as someone sent me the link.

P40BH mowi:

Dec 16, 2011 - They are preserving this unit it is special. Its not a paperweight a paper weight is a thing that hold paper and i dont think an F40PH can hold a paper. There are not many more F40Ph's outthere New Jersey Transit Currently has the most F40PHs about 50 of them

otef434 mowi:

Dec 21, 2011 - Ok then a boat anchor. And I think Metra has a whole lot more.

P40BH mowi:

Dec 21, 2011 - I really dont think you understand what we said, so im gonna end this now !!!!

otef434 mowi:

Dec 31, 2011 - I understood you very clearly. It's broken down, old and useless in it's current state. And all the owner has done is paint it into a fantasy scheme. At least when Metra repaired the two F40's from Amtrak, they did a proper job and they earn their keep. That makes 87 F40's they have. And last time I talked with Jackson Street, they stressed none of them were "special".

joshandkorinna mowi:

Jan 9, 2012 - You're very rude to people who haven't done anything to you. If you really wanted to let people know your opinion on this matter why didn't you do a little research. It seems this unit is going to be running with SP 4449. So it actually makes total sense to have it in the Daylight scheme. And besides it was painted with private money; why should you care what color it was painted?

trinityct mowi:

Jan 28, 2012 - Is #231 broken? It doesn't sound like it's working, or on.........

Barricade360 mowi:

Apr 2, 2012 - whats the operational status of 231 i like it in that scheme. if not operational will they restore it?
