Oct 5, 2010 - My Dad a Chief Petty Officer on HMS Hood. Disapponted to be transferred to a fleet escort Corvette, HMS Kylemore. 6 weeks later, all his friends on Hood lost in the disaster which befell her. Months later, Kylemore sunk by a Dornier in the North Sea, escorting a convoy to Murmansk. 8 out of a crew of 68 survived. My Dad was one, & got the DSM. Four hours in cold sea caused rheumatic fever. At age 48 he got malaria in Tanganyika. His heart was weak. He died. I was 5. See pics on my video.

Jan 31, 2011 - @gosuc-my Liverpudlian mother had a fiance who was torpedoed twice.Twice she wore a black arm band.Twice he returned. The third time he was on the Hood. The Prince of Wales was later sunk, by the Japanese, together with the HMS Repulse. Interestingly the Repulse was captained by Bill Tennant who had been in charge (on the beaches) of the evacuation from Dunkirk. He survived & was greatly loved by his men.His story is very interesting.Watching people trapped in ships, boats or tanks is horrendous.

Jun 19, 2011 - My dad served on Hood until his transfer to HMS Kylemore, just a month before Hood's sinking. He lost many good friends. Six months later, Kylemore met her fate too, at the hands of German Dorniers, & my dad was one of only 8 survivors. He was awarded the DSM for courageous conduct during & after the sinking. The medal was pinned on his chest by Lord Mountbatten.

May 15, 2012 - my great-grandfather was sailor on the bismarck. i'll never forget him. and i'll never forget those brave souls who lost their lives on the hms hood. they were all seamen... war is shit. everytime. i wish that it never happened but i cant change anything. all i can do is getting insulted by people from other countries or watching those brave men fighting on ships of steel. on real masterpieces. both sides. i hate war. may all those lost souls rest in peace.
