May 18, 2012 - Actually, the original version of the song was a political injustice song, and the rewrite was about lost love. Neither version speaks of suicide in their original Hungarian. It wasn't until Sam Lewis added English lyrics to the song, which were not in any way a translation from either Hungarian version, that appeared the verse about suicide. Furthermore, the verse about only being dreaming wasn't added until after a record label refused to publish Holiday's version without said verse.

May 20, 2012 - This is not correct,I am Hungarian and the original song has nothing to do with any politics but is about lost love and sorrow. It doesn't mention the word "suicide" directly but reading between lines it is clearly about following his lover to death. Apparently there was an alternative lyrics created to the same music years later and reflects to the WWII and love lost amongst humans.As to the last verse on dreaming it all you are correct, there is no such thing in the original Hungarian version.

May 20, 2012 - The original wasn't political? Cities are being destroyed, shrapnel is making music, fields run red with blood and streets are paved with dead bodies. My Hungarian may be a little rusty, but I do know that the root szere is present in all forms and variations for the Hungarian love. The only occurrence in the original of the root szere is the line "meghalt a szeretet". Ergo, unless you speak some other form of Hungarian than the rest of us, the original is not about love or losing love at all.

May 20, 2012 - I am a native Hungarian and you are mixing up the two versions - the original is the suicidal love song, the later version is about the war...you can check on wikipedia searching for "Szomorú vasárnap" you will get both versions of the lyrics and will see that the part "Meghalt a szeretet" you are refferring to is in the second, later version that was made to reflect the war. Please leave the explanation to us Hungarians, believe me we know better both the song and the language.

László Jávor made new lyrics to the song, which is the song you're claiming was the original, and titled it "Szomorú vasárnap". Hungarian isn't my native language but it is for my grandmother and even she thinks you're retarded. Also, I looked up the wiki page you referred to and it says what I just said, so I'm assuming you also can't read.
