May 22, 2012 - You're not understanding what he's saying, take a few mins and re-watch the video completely. He's saying you can be way more progressive if you don't sign. Why? Because you have to go with what the label is doing. If the record label is about nursery songs and exploiting the youth, then you have to tailor your songs along those lines if you want to make money. There's also many restrictions with being signed in contrast to you selling your music online for 100% of the profit via iTunes or w/e
