Mar 30, 2012 - Anybody else think the Fiat 500 resembles a sort of retro modern VW Bug?

Apr 9, 2012 - I have a Fiat 500, and really like the car very much. I am 6' 3" and it has plenty of headroom. and good leg room. The left foot rest is even removable for more left room. Just pull up the carpet, and the foot rest slides out. The back seat is small, but the front feels roomy. The Fiat 500 is also fun to drive, peppy and responsive, and I am getting about 30-32 mpg in town with the automatic transmission

Apr 19, 2012 - Just rented one of these, and my wife and I hated the seats (seemingly no comfortable position, weird cheap disposable levers, un-adjustable shoulder seat belts), the auto trans was constantly confused, the gas mileage was around 32mpg, the cruise control was the most unresponsive to inputs I have ever experienced, the ride quality was so so. Aside from the novelty I'm not sure what anyone sees in this car. The sport mode with manual shifting was fun, but my honda fit handles/rides better.

Apr 20, 2012 - I like it and I never in a million years thought I would like a car this small. I'm used to driving SUVs and big ass muscle cars but this would be a nice way of transportation it turns heads 2

Apr 23, 2012 - Nothing resembles a real VW Bug but a real AIR-COOLED VW Bug.
InfiniteMushroom mowi:
Apr 23, 2012 - Best car to turn heads with is an old air-cooled VW Bug. I get more compliments and smiles from people who once owned one. If you get a nice Bug to start with, or restore it right, you'll actually get your money back if you decide to sell it. If gas goes to $5/gallon, you'll sell it for a profit! This Fiat 500 will just be another bulbous trollmobile in the Wal-Mart parking lot.

Apr 23, 2012 - There is a growing Orwellian dissonance of the mass mind that seeks beauty and good in ugliness. Hence, the growth of ugly cars over the past 30 years or so. I think it started with the Renault Le Car. Downsizing in the late 70's. Then the Pontiac Aztek, Honda Element, Scion xB and Nissan Cube. Now we have this Fiat 500. The entire cadre of auto stylists are very disturbed people who revel at mocking car buyers. Competing with each other to see what kind of monstrosity they can get us to buy

Apr 23, 2012 - What about a real beetle/insect? Anyway, it reminds me of a VW Bug.

Apr 23, 2012 - there's nothing wrong with being original, or even bizarre, design-wise. My gripes with the car were everything else, I actually like how it looks. It just seemed that little tings you take for granted in any other car were completely off. Things like the headlights not shining anywhere but straight ahead, or the sun visors only covering the top 2 inches of the window if put to the side, or the inexplicable double-downshifting on the slightest hill when the cruise was set. Wannabe mini cooper.

Apr 24, 2012 - 'S cool. To each his own Still, I can't help but wonder how far designers will go before they begin assaulting us through the styling psychology cars? Sort of like a pimp who begins beating his whores because he can and he STILL gets his cut! Extreme artists thrive on outrage and hate it when we become accustomed to it. Their art becomes abusive to the audience and radiates contempt. The uber rich pay top dollar for such eye raping because they think it's beautiful Cars are getting there...

Apr 24, 2012 - Many cars today resemble cartoon insects and cheap toddler's toys.

Apr 24, 2012 - Hmmm, that's a very interesting observation & comment. I've never thought of it, but you actually seem to be right. I mean, it certainly doesn't cost anything more to design & build a sleek, cool, beautiful auto body, then it does to make an ugly one. That being the case, why are their so many ugly cars? Ya know, I wonder if the auto stylists are in cahoots with fashion designers? LOL Sometimes it seems like they are both conspiring to turn out trash. BTW, I REALLY liked your comment,
