Apr 7, 2012 - haha sorry bro but jussayin he is one of the b.e.s.t batters of the MLB ... Who are you to critique?
JameseanApprentice mowi:
Apr 7, 2012 - i'm saying he's doing all of these things correctly but the analysis of his swing is incorrect. However, despite the fact that he is one of the best batters of the MLB, his mechanics aren't perfect. if i could go back 15 years i would have him begin with the bat parallel to the ground, rather than vertical, so he wouldn't have to waste time getting the bat to be parallel. he's great without this, but a lot of great hitters have slight flaws that they make up for with supreme athleticism.

Apr 8, 2012 - how can u even compare beltran to albert
yankeescsa mowi:
Apr 9, 2012 - @JameseanApprentice I approve. You had me there
bk11121988 mowi:
Apr 10, 2012 - When Albert came to the USA, he claimed the age of 16. If he would've said he was 20, 18, or even 17 he would have been INELIGIBLE to play high school ball. This was his motive to lie about his age. It was an "open secret" in his high school that he was MUCH older than he claimed. His class mates and teammates said it was like watching a grown man play among little boys. For example he hit a 430 foot homer his 1st year.
bk11121988 mowi:
Apr 10, 2012 - LISTEN: The ONLY reason why the Cardinals did not sign Albert is because the Cardinals organization know how old Albert really is. When he first signed with St Louis, the Cardinals executives made Albert admit to his real age. Albert is currently between 35-37 years old.

Apr 10, 2012 - and also I could probably say the same thing for all sports. football (all you do is jump ontop of eachother) lmao. basketball( all you do is drible and shoot) soccor (all you do is kick a ball)
phatneazy mowi:
Apr 11, 2012 - soccer players always try to argue that it is the greatest sport simply based on its popularity. Soccer isnt popular because of how great of a sport it is, but because all you need is a ball to play. there is no other equipment required. because of this people in any country with almost no money can play. you can set up rocks or sticks as goals and boundaries

Apr 11, 2012 - have you seen lebron james? baldness and manliness comes early for some people

Apr 14, 2012 - actually, he throws his hips beforehand and then allows his hands to follow. this generates power and allows his bat to stay in the zone longer.

Apr 14, 2012 - Can Somebody Help Me, Im 14 years old Pitches, Plays 3rd or SS, Bats 3rd or 4th. Never Struggled in Batting I have a fast swing and everything. But ever since I hit the Modified (Middle School) Level every coach has been trying to mess with my swing can somebody tell me it's alright to keep my back elbow up , the new coach wants my elbow next to my ribs, which is way to low for me. So someone just reply if its okay for me to keep my elbow uppp....
Mrbattlefeildlover mowi:
Apr 18, 2012 - Elbow up like pujols is good! I am a varsity highschool player and My swings identical to his. So yes keep it up he's an idiot lol.
busta bean mowi:
Apr 19, 2012 - dont keep your elbow up if anything straight at higher level baseball if you have your elbow up it causes your swing to slow down. and when you load your and load the vertical so you have more bat speed, bat speed gives you much more power. your welcome
SupremefuI mowi:
Apr 20, 2012 - Yeah I usually have it level but my hands are higher than my elboww..
MrATbeez mowi:
Apr 20, 2012 - listen to ur coach. the old philosophy of having ur elbow up creates flawed mechanics. the reason is because when u throw ur hands first at the ball, the elbow drops and follows the hands, which makes the bat head be the last thing through the zone which gives you the best chance as a hitter. Freeze the video at 1:04. where is alberts back elbow? right above his back hip, with his hands out front and bat head traveling through the zone last. great for staying late and hitting it opposite field
MrATbeez mowi:
Apr 20, 2012 - he's actually not an idiot. if you freeze the video at 1:04 where is alberts back elbow? its below his hands and right at his back hip, right? so why start your elbow up when the first thing that happens once you throw your hands at the ball, is for your elbow to drop to that back hip which follows your hands? your elbow HAS to drop to the back hip in order to swing, might as well keep the elbow below the hands in order for a shortened swing that is more direct to the ball. good luck though
chaytongilmore mowi:
Apr 26, 2012 - @MrATbeez The reason you keep that elbow up is all in your load. You're correct on your elbow coming to your hip once you begin your swing but if you start with it down your front shoulder would be up at load point encouraging a "dip" or "uppercut" motion in your swing. (most cases) A lot of pro hitters you see have that front shoulder pointed down during their load or before point of contact. The back elbow up basically keeps your hands from dropping.
osu21185 mowi:
Apr 29, 2012 - Elbow up or down doesnt matter. If you have your elbow up you can use it as leverage as long as the hitter maintains the proper bat plane toward the ball. If the elbow is down you still have to maintain the same swing but without the additional leverage. it depends on the individual hitter and the discipline.

Apr 5, 2012 - His hands and hips rotate together and they're connected?? Power comes from a separation of hips and shoulders, meaning the hips rotate and the upper body follows, because one's muscles around their hips are much stronger as those in their arms. Also, his arms don't swing, his upper body rotates and his arms stay locked, keeping them rotating the same distance away from the body. he doesn't extend his arms in order to maximize the angular velocity of his bat, as it stays in one orbit.
