Jan 31, 2012 - Carrying supplies is actually pretty crucial, without them soldiers would be fucked. That horse saved more lives than you give her credit for, and the fact she made it out alive and in one piece is pretty amazing. The people that died are heroes too, but alot of heroes names goes unsung.

It appears nula07 and galloway62042009 are so wrong, but they do not even know, whole story of Reckless, such an ignorant comment, He did the work of 10 Marines. each time Reckless brought up the extremely heavy supplies, he found the Marines where ever they were. He brought countless of Wounded Marines back with her. Fighting in coming. He saved more lives in many ways, then any other Marine in that War. My husband was a Marinehero.

Feb 3, 2012 - Also your comments were disgusting. My husband fought in Vietnam, got the Bronze Star with V, and the purple heart, actually Reckless was awarded a combat ribbon. Other horses also were used in the Korean War, but this horse was special. My husband was poisoned by the drinking water at Camp Lejeune, sprayed with Agent Orange and other chemicals. He developed liver cancer, and received the poorest of care of VA. I suppose you would have rude remarks about him as well. Read what a Marine is.

Mar 25, 2012 - There is nothing that can be added to this story. Animals can be amazing, and this horse is certainly one of a kind. I was stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas, when the last horse in the US Cavalry died. The horse received full honors and a parade, but I doubt that any equine feat could equal that of Sgt. Reckless. Thanks for keeping her amazing story alive.

May 4, 2012 - Animals have more intelligence than we think. I bet she knew what she was doing and enjoyed having a job. Living creatures do better when they have a job; that includes dogs and horses. Read cases where dogs WITHOUT TRAINING have rescued humans from drowning because they SAW the human was in trouble and needed help. Instinct? Yes, a natural instinct many animals have to protect the helpless. Animals love to be needed. Well, maybe not cats.....dunno about them.
