You're confusing education with convincing. People who share their stories are simply trying to educate people. This is especially true for DID because most that present with DID have developed these personalities as a coping mechanism for horrific traumas therefore they are sharing in order for others to be aware as a way to help

Apr 19, 2012 - this is very real and i have it. remember its caused by trauma in ones life so the more trauma you encounter as a child the more personalities you have. i find myself changing my personality all the time. i had a tough childhood and my dad never let me think for myself so around him i developed a personality. but around another people i had a different personality. just remember it is caused by trauma and don't judge those who have it because its their defense mechanism.

Apr 20, 2012 - I recognize this guy now from Celebrity Apprentice. I would have never guessed he struggled with this disorder. But of course many people with mental illnesses are able to function normally in the real world and are even very successful. A number of people I know like my mother battle mental issues everyday yet no one (co-workers, friends, etc.) would even suspect that something is off about them.

May 1, 2012 - I wasn't diagnosed but my husband was and when I finally met one of the alters who scared the living crap out of me cause he snuck up on me while giving my husband a hug. I'm not judgemental and I'm still learning about it even though I've been studying it for about three years. So I agree with you as an outsider, don't judge people with DID they are normal just like every one else.
