The fact that they killed all those people has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that they were atheists. Hitler was a Christian! He killed roughly 11,000,000 people in the concentration camps. May 11, 2011 - It's not suspicious at all. Again, they did NOT kill in the name of atheism. It's not like they went "Oh, all of you are religious, therefore you have to die now!", unlike the people killing in the name of their faith, e.g. Muslim terrorists in the most recent past, as well as Christian hardliners. Just look at Northern Ireland for example where simply belonging to a certain religious group, Protestant or Catholic, could/can get you killed.

The Vatican might have distanced themselves from Hitler but the fact that he was religious and that he had the backing of the Church (of course there were some who opposed) is a fact. Any history book can tell you that, as well as Hitler in his own words in Mein Kampf. He saw himself as doing the Lord's work in exterminating the Jews.
