Sep 23, 2008 - I was a shy tenor player of 16yrs old, played the solo on In The Mood with Illinois sitting beside me at my high school stage band....he says, son if you dont think you're good nobody else will, then he proceeded to blow everyone away with his own version. Sep 18, 2009 - As I recall, he used to work at George's in Toronto on occasion and one of our teachers got to know him. She invited him to our school to sit in with our stage band. From what i remember (30 some yrs ago) he wasn't a very big guy but he had a huge sound. He was very pleasant to talk to and had an ego a mile wide but not offensive at all. He's always been one of my favourite players.
