May 18, 2012 - Yes that's very true but if you've ever seen the original leaked script for the Dark Energy theory, written by Drew Karpynshyn, the plot of ME2 was supposed to be explained thoroughly and tie in to the overall plot of the series.

May 18, 2012 - I read about the Dark Energy theory. Can't say I'm really convinced it would've been any better. It still would've taken away any value Sovereign's speech had. Sovereign said organic life was an accident, yet the rest of his bros want to save organics from dark energy? Makes no sense. The Reapers were at their best in ME1 - mysterious, unknown, brooding evil. Sovereign.

May 19, 2012 - I agree that the dark energy theory would have taken away the lore of Sovereign and the Reapers, but that theory was the reason ME2 was the way it is. I'm sure if Drew Karpynshyn was still with the team he would have been able to tweak it to make avoid plotholes and ruining the Reapers altogether. However, he left and we were left with the steaming pile of garbage that was the game ME3. Yes the whle game.

May 19, 2012 - I don't know if they'd have been able to reconcile Sovereign's speech with this scenario, but I guess we'll never know. And you're preaching to the choir about ME3. I don't think it was perfect, aside from the endings. The endings were just the rotten cherry on the shitty sundae, IMHO.

May 19, 2012 - Yes, because the brains of the group left with Drew Karpynshyn. But the thoery was still a work in progress, so it was still being worked on. And I don't know about you, but at least that ending would have been more science fiction rather than space magic. As for preaching to the choir, I disagree. Most people think it's the best game ever made until the ending. I thought it was the worst in the franchise. I could go on and list tons of reasons why, but it seems you already know them.

May 19, 2012 - You honestly think ME3 was the first to introduce space magic? ME2 was the first with the Lazarus Project. I think that the writing began its quest to commit suicide in ME2, with how it forgot that Mass Effect was supposed to be about Reapers, not daddy issues and pointless mooks. It finally did commit suicide in the beginning of ME3 (rushed intro/conveniently found crucible plans) onward. ME3's endings were merely it rubbing it in your face that it had, indeed, committed storytelling suicide.

May 20, 2012 - And that "something" should've been tied to the overall plot, stopping the Reapers, not just shoehorned into the game to fill the role of the obligatory antagonist for the mere sake of having one, which is what it feels like in hindsight.

May 24, 2012 - i felt sorry for saren..but on my second playtrough i got a really suprising ending becouse my speech skill was high enough(yes mass effect had a speech skill)..saren and all the other characters are great...a+story and character design..this is the best sci-fi RPG along with deus ex(the original)
