Sep 26, 2010 - 1080p vs. 720p adds several hundred dollars onto the price of a tv, and the only time you really use it is when you watch blu rays (which, as of now, are almost all mastered very poorly and don't benefit from it.) Naturally, a salesman would say 1080p is the highest requirement, but if you can't afford it, you're not missing out on much. TV channels and 95% of video games max out at 720p.
