However in the original documentation were this clip is taken from, bohemian forces are mentioned as one of the seven german tribes who joined for the battle. Since im no expert of eastern european history and culture, i dont know if those forces actualy consisted of germanic or slavic people. But rest assured, the czech warriors werent forgotten. :)

Oct 9, 2011 - Well, just for mentioning, we are not eastern-europeans, those are Slovakians and Polish people. Well and as far as I know, we were not a tribe in the full meaning. Those forces of Bohemia were made only from cavalry knights. St. Vaclav actuaely brought order to bohemian ranks and really founded the great cavalry knights of that times, well equiped and so on. After he died, those values werent forgotten. Glad to hear it, thank you for response.

Hungarians war tactics was ALWAYS to simulate a retread, to exhaust the enemy and then kill the follower with arrows like Huns did. They had no heavy armor, so THEY could decide the distance between them and the follower. The problem here was, Otto knows that and was blocking the path. So the hungarians had no choice and had to fight against Ottos heavy armored troups.

Otto recognised the strength of the Hungarians, he knows the advantages of the quickness and light rider of the Hungarians with arrow and bent. but collected all fighter with there long weapon, the long lance against the enemy and won the battle against the hungarians. the german knights were wearing modern chain shirt for protecting against enemy arrows. this is the story, the video is showing and telling.

Feb 20, 2012 - great job and great video :). I would just add some info about the Czech troops (as a czech myself) in the battle if I may. Prince Boleslav had to leave most troops in Bohemia to block off the invading enemy attacking in that direction (in coordination with Otto´s army) and thus had send "only" 1000 cavalry (knights) to the battle. But they were the best he could send in. The battle is immportant to our history too, because we regained control over most of Moravia thanks to it.

This tactics was succesful - notice the unimaginable victories of Mongols in 13th century. Not before 17th c. Europeans learned how to fight against this tactics.
